LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - Supporters of a popular wildlife refuge protest plans to euthanize 22 orphaned fawns.
Volunteers and administrators of Broadbent Wildlife Refuge in Meade County said Kentucky Fish and Wildlife officials will be killing the deer as a way to prevent the spread of the fatal Chronic Wasting Disease.
People who rescue the animals question the need to euthanize 22 fawns that are held in captivity and show no symptoms.
“We’re not getting any answers,” ReelTime Animal Rescue founder Krista Embry said. “I think there should be something filed in Meade County to stop this if you want to look at it as an execution. I look at it as that until we can further examine these fawns and look at other options.”
