LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - The Louisville community has gotten a little bit safer. On August 28, 22 new firefighters graduated their training program and are ready to hit the streets.
Louisville Fire Department Recruit Class 190 completed six months of intense physical, mental and emotional training to become ready to run on anything from firefights to car wrecks to medical emergencies.
“I’m really proud of myself. I’m really, really proud of my brothers. It’s been a long way to here,” said Junior Morales who has been assigned to Engine 5 upon graduating.
For Morales, it’s not only been a long way through the six-month training program. He traveled a long way – literally – from Cuba to get to Louisville.
