LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - Officials at Broadbent Wildlife Sanctuary released a statement after Kentucky Fish and Wildlife euthanized 22 fawns due to a threat of Chronic Wasting Disease. Now, officials with the wildlife sanctuary say that they complied with all Kentucky Fish and Wildlife rules but the fawns were still euthanized.

The Wildlife Sanctuary said that Kentucky Fish and Wildlife told staff that they could, " n ot accept fawns outside of a 100 mile radius due to chronic wasting disease being found at a private deer farm, and every fawn we accepted was from within the 100 mile radius. The other stipulation was that they be released within the county of rehabilitation, and our intention was to release them all on our own private property."
