CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, Ohio -- With little time to spare, City Council introduced a first set of charter amendments Monday (Aug. 25) that could be on their way to the November ballot.
Council could vote on forwarding the “first bucket” of proposed amendments at next Tuesday’s meeting -- two days before the Sept. 4 deadline for the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections.
Much of this grouping deals with the separation and balance of powers between the elected mayor and City Council under the Cleveland Heights’ nearly new form of local government.
There are also amendments modernizing and improving existing language.
