PROVO, Utah (ABC4 Sports) - Ever since graduating from American Fork High, Chase Roberts has had a whirlwind of a career at BYU.

Roberts caught passes from Jaren Hall in 2022, from Kedon Slovis in 2023, and from Jake Retzlaff last season. Now Roberts will be dealing with his fourth starting QB in four years in true freshman Bear Bachmeier.

"I'm excited to go out and play," Roberts said about BYU's season opener against Portland State this Saturday. "We've done great in years past when we get a new quarterback With Bear, he's got the playbook down so so quickly. When we get in the huddle and we go out against the defense, he's the one to get the energy going. So, we love Bear, and we're excited for him."
