A Madison, Wisconsin, priest was arrested after attempting to meet a 14-year-old and engage in sexual activity, police said.

Andrew Showers, 37, was charged with child enticement, use of a computer to facilitate a child sex crime and attempted second-degree sexual assault of a child, the Clintonville Police Department said in a Facebook post.

On Sunday, Showers allegedly made arrangements to travel to Clintonville, a community roughly 130 miles away from Madison in the north central part of the state, to meet a 14-year-old girl, authorities stated. He was arrested that evening in the town and lodged in the county jail, where he remained Tuesday.
