Electric bike may have caused house fire on Maui

KAHULUI (HawaiiNewsNow) - On Maui, fire investigators believe a fire that sparked at a home in Kahului may have started with an electric bike.

The fire broke out at around 4:40 p.m. Monday on S. Lehua Street.

Officials said the fire started on the outside of the home and began spreading inside.

Crews extinguished the fire at 5:19 p.m.

Flames caused an estimated $30,000 in damage to the structure, officials said.

Investigators determined the cause as accidental.

No one was hurt or displaced by the fire.
