JEFFERSON DAVIS COUNTY, Miss. (WDAM) - It’s been less than 10 days since 17-year-old Galvin Fortenberry was shot and killed in Jefferson Davis County.

“What are we supposed to do,” said Alvin Fortenberry, Galvin’s father. “What am I supposed to do about my son? They got to do something.”

Alvin and Kashina Fortenberry, Galvin’s parents, say every day since Aug. 17 has felt like a nightmare.

Their 17-year-old son was shot and killed at Finish Line Drag Strip in Prentiss late that night.

“He was a funny person, overall,” Kashina Fortenberry said. “Very smart. Very, very smart. Super smart, and he always wanted to learn something. He was just a laid-back, chill person.”

The Fortenberrys said Galvin graduated third among 147 students at Camp Shelby on June 14.

He was set to join Air Force
