COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa —

Council Bluffs Community Schools met Tuesday night to talk about its gender identity protection policy.

Gov. Kim Reynolds signed Senate File 418 into law this year, removing gender identity from the Iowa Civil Rights Act. In response, schools across the state removed it from their discrimination policies.

Council Bluffs Schools removed gender identity from their non-discrimination policy to follow state law. However, they say all students and faculty are still protected from discrimination.

When it comes to discrimination in Council Bluffs schools, the district's Board of Education says any form of harassment will be dealt with.
