REDDING, Calif. — Shasta Community College's Gateway to College program has earned national recognition with a Program Excellence Award from Achieving the Dream. The award acknowledges the program's success in helping students at risk of not graduating complete their high school diplomas while earning college credits.
This is the sixth time Shasta College's program has received this award. Cat Morton, Shasta College’s Gateway Program Director, accepted the award at the K-College Institute in Denver on July 25.
"Gateway to College programs provide a critical second chance for vulnerable high school students," said Emily Froimson, Executive Vice President of Achieving the Dream. She emphasized the importance of support and belonging in college, noting that nearly 75 percent of graduates c
