REDDING, Calif. — Redding Rancheria's Harm Reduction Program has shown promising results just eight weeks post-launch, aiming to support those with substance use disorders in Shasta County.
According to Redding Rancheria, the program operates every Friday at the Tribe's Churn Creek Recovery Center. The rancheria opens the program to all community members with essential supplies and services. Initially serving six to eight people weekly, attendance has surged to over 20 individuals, providing disease prevention materials, harm reduction supplies, food and clothing at no cost.
The program has already collected and safely disposed of more than 600 used syringes. This effort keeps them off the streets and out of public parks.
