LAKE RONKONKOMA, N.Y. (PIX11) – A 13-year-old boy was struck by a car while he was driving an e-bike on Long Island on Tuesday, according to the Suffolk County Police Department.

Police said it happened at the intersection of Hawkins Avenue and School Street in Lake Ronkonkoma around 8:30 p.m. The teenager was riding north on Hawkins Avenue when he was hit by a 2012 white Ford Fusion making a left onto School Street, according to authorities.

Police said the car drove away from the scene, going east on School Street.

The boy was taken to a local hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, according to authorities.
