In an evenly matched Idaho Class 4A girls soccer contest between the Sun Valley Community School Cutthroats and Teton Timberwolves, the Cutthroats scored the “standard Brynley [Gage] goal” to propel them to a season-opening 1-0 victory Saturday at Browning Field in Sun Valley.

“Brynley is such a strong player,” said Cutthroats head coach Kelly Feldman. “It’s nice to have her on the field and have her healthy.”

After the teams were tied 0-0 at halftime, Gage, a junior midfielder, weaved through defenders on the attacking third on the right side of the field and slotted a goal in short side for the only goal of the contest.

“She’s our magic bullet,” Feldman said.

Feldman said the team’s collective grit and determination was on full display in the victory.

“It’s a great group of girls,”
