MERCER COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Mercer County jury has convicted a Dunbar woman of felony shoplifting following a trial earlier this week.

According to Mercer County Prosecuting Attorney Brian K. Cochran, the jury found 44-year-old Nakia Berger Jr. guilty on August 25, 2025, of third-offense shoplifting, a felony under West Virginia law. Berger was indicted in February 2025 after allegedly stealing items from Lowe’s in Princeton in August 2024.

While jurors were not permitted to hear details of Berger’s prior criminal record, Cochran described her as a “habitual shoplifter” with numerous arrests and convictions across West Virginia.
