A Bearsden woman is officially the oldest person to ever zipline the Clyde and she did it all in aid of a charity she co-founded in 1965.

On Sunday August 24, Mae Whiteford, 93, took to the sky to raise funds for Spina Bifida Hydrocephalus (SBH) Scotland, the charity she helped co-found in 1965.

To mark the charity’s 60th anniversary year, Mae volunteered to zipline across the Clyde to raise vital funds. Zipslide the Clyde is a 100ft high and 1245ft long adrenaline adventure, which sees participants launched off from a crane next to Glasgow’s Riverside Museum.
