ST. PAULS — The last time Lumberton and St. Pauls met on the football field, Mike Setzer and Taurius Baker were both assistant coaches at Lumberton under Mike Brill, both on their way to eventually becoming the Pirates head coach.

And the current stars of the Bulldogs and Pirates were toddlers, newborns, and some of the younger ones may have not even been born.

Friday, for the first time since 2010, St. Pauls and Lumberton will face off on the gridiron, with kickoff set for 7 p.m. at the Bulldogs’ G.S. Kinlaw Stadium.

“It’s been a while since this game has been played,” Baker said. “I think it’s a good matchup for the county and for both communities, and we’re just looking forward to it.”
