HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A single lane closure through Honolulu’s Chinatown is scheduled for next week.

The City and County of Honolulu’s Department of Design and Construction (DDC) and Department of Facility Maintenance (DFM) said the closure will happen on River Street on Thursday, September 4.

Crews will shut down the makai bound lane between Nimitz Highway and North King Street to investigate soil and channel wall issues under the sidewalk.

For public safety, DDC said the sidewalk along River Street adjacent to Nuuanu Stream is already closed and will remain closed until repairs are completed.

DDC said repairs should only last one day but drivers are urged to use alternate routes and watch for traffic control signs.
