CAIRO, Ill. (WSIL) – Do you have old family photos, letters, or important documents tucked away in boxes, waiting to be preserved? Here’s your chance to protect those memories for generations to come and it's absolutely free.

On Saturday, August 30, The Cairo Historical Preservation Project is hosting that event at the Rise Community Market. Organizers will be scanning family Photos and historical Documents from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Community members are invited to bring in up to 10 personal photos or memorabilia items to be digitally scanned on the spot at no cost.
