CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Governor Patrick Morrisey has ordered flags at state facilities across West Virginia to be flown at half-staff from noon on August 27, 2025, until sunset on the day of internment to honor the life and service of Justice Tim Armstead.

Armstead, a native of Braxton County, graduated from Braxton County High School, the University of Charleston, and West Virginia University College of Law.

He began his public service as a press intern for Governor Arch Moore, later working as a law clerk for U.S. District Judge David A. Faber and as Executive Assistant to the Chief of Staff for Governor Cecil Underwood.

Appointed to the House of Delegates in 1998, Armstead was elected to the seat that November.

He became Minority Leader in 2006 and Speaker of the House in 2015
