BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) -- Week 1 of the college football season is officially here and there will be games played for five consecutive days starting Thursday.

The headline of Week 1 will be played Saturday at 11 a.m. on FOX when the defending national champion, Ohio State Buckeyes, host the No. 1 ranked team in the country, the Texas Longhorns. It's a rematch of last seasons College Football Playoff Semifinal matchup which the Buckeyes won, 28-14. Both teams will have new faces at quarterback, as the Heisman favorite, Arch Manning, will take the snaps for the Longhorns, and Julian Sayin will be QB1 for the Buckeyes.

Other Week 1 games include the debut for Bill Belichick at North Carolina. The Tar Heels will host TCU and the stand-alone game on ESPN Monday. No. 9 LSU will travel to No.
