Signed as an undrafted free agent, Makari Paige did not make the New York Giants’ 53-man roster. The former Michigan safety, captain, and national champion was waived as teams across the NFL cut players before Tuesday’s deadline.
Paige could re-join the Giants as part of the practice squad. He signed with the team immediately following April’s draft. He played in the New York’s three preseason games earlier this month, finishing with nine tackles and intercepting a pass against the Jets.
The West Bloomfield High School product appeared in 53 games over five seasons at Michigan, including 32 starts in the secondary. He was voted a captain by his teammates last year.
