A Winnipeg whistleblower says seniors living in a Manitoba Housing complex in St. Boniface are having their “retirement robbed from them” as crime, theft and drug use overwhelm the building and spill into the wider neighbourhood.

The whistleblower, who asked to remain anonymous, told the Sun that a senior acquaintance in the 101 Marion St. building — once a 55-plus complex — can no longer safely keep groceries, clothing or personal belongings inside his suite.

“He told me what he’s going through. He can’t keep food there, clothes get stolen, not just food,” the whistleblower said. “You’ve got all these good people just trying to go to retirement, and now they’ve been basically infiltrated.”
