CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WGHP) — Former Dudley High School quarterback and college star Hendon Hooker is coming home.

The Charlotte Observer's Mike Kaye reports that Hooker, a Greensboro native, is expected to sign with the Carolina Panthers' practice squad.

Hooker is entering his third season in the NFL after being selected by the Detroit Lions in the Third Round of the 2023 NFL Draft.

Hooker’s rookie season in Detroit was something of a redshirt season as he continued to recover from a torn ACL he suffered during his final season at the University of Tennessee.

Hooker moved up the depth chart in 2024 as he won the backup quarterback competition for the Lions.
