KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Many parents are concerned after a gun was found inside Lee's Summit West High School – a gun that had been reported lost to police but not the school.
The school district's superintendent sent a letter to families, which said police never notified the district.
"At no point were school officials made aware of the possibility that a weapon may have been left on campus," Superintendent David Buck said in the letter.
FOX4 spoke with the Lee's Summit Police Department on Wednesday and asked for clarification about whether the school district had been notified about the missing gun.
"The initial review of the incident indicates they were not," the police department said.
