MASON, Ohio (WXIX) - Mason City Schools is hoping to get ahead of the curve by putting measures in place early for its football season.

Soon, hundreds of fans will fill the bleachers of Dwire Field, and Mason City Schools Superintendent Jonathan Cooper says the key to keeping these fans safe is being proactive.

“Recognizing the fact that everyone wants to be here is a good thing. We just want to make sure we keep it a safe and high-quality experience for not just our students, but our family members and community as well,” Cooper tells FOX19 NOW.

Friday night lights is not just a football game for Cooper, but also a community event, he says.

New safety measures for this football season have been in the works for a year, and he and administrators want to ensure complete safety at events
