BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) -- Two insurers of the Diocese of Buffalo agreed to pay a total of $122.5 million on top of the $150 million the Diocese agreed to pay to settle over 800 claims of sexual abuse, the law firm representing some of the victims announced Wednesday.
A settlement was reached with Wausau Insurance for $37.5 million and Continental Insurance Company for $85 million, Jeff Anderson and Associates said, which now brings the total amount for survivors to $272.5 million.
“These settlements are another step toward the resolution of this case,” Jeff Anderson and Associates attorney Stacey Benson said in a news release. “These settlements are a testament to survivors who refuse to stay silent until the diocese is held accountable.”
