BISMARCK — Gov. Kelly Armstrong on Wednesday, Aug. 27, directed all U.S. and North Dakota flags to be flown at half-staff until sunset on Sunday, Aug. 31.

As a mark of respect for the victims of the Wednesday shooting at Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis, North Dakotans are encouraged to do the same at their homes and businesses, according to a release.

“Kjersti and I are heartbroken for our neighbors in Minnesota and praying for the victims of the unspeakable act of violence at Annunciation Catholic School and their families,” Armstrong said in the release. “We are grateful for the first responders and medical professionals caring for the victims.”

The flag directive is in accordance with a proclamation issued by President Donald Trump, according to the release.
