HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) -- Two social workers have been named social worker of the year, including one woman from Evansville.

Aly Griggs received the recognition by the Indiana chapter of the National Association of Social Workers this week. She is a social worker at New Visions Counseling and was nominated for her exceptional leadership skills and grounded tenacity in advocating for clients and building relationships.

This award is given to Indiana social workers who represent social work core values, including service, social justice, dignity and importance of human relationships, integrity, and competence. Lisa Kelly of Fort Wayne also received the award.
