OXFORD, Miss. (WMC) - The truck driver who was accused of striking two University of Mississippi students in 2022 has pleaded guilty to his charges in connection with one of his victims’ deaths.
The Oxford Police Department announced Wednesday that 30-year-old Seth Garron Rokitka, of Collierville, Tennessee, entered a plea agreement for two of his four original charges: leaving the scene of an accident causing death and aggravated DUI.
Upon his arrest, Rokitka was also charged with manslaughter and leaving the scene of an accident resulting in personal injury.
He was sentenced to 10 years for leaving the scene and an additional five years for DUI consecutively, but police say his five-year sentence will be suspended after he completes his 10-year term.
