WILKES-BARRE, Pa. — Luzerne County Council on Tuesday adopted a resolution "encouraging" PPL Electric Utilities to pursue alternatives for a contentious 12-mile-long 500kV transmission line from the Susquehanna Nuclear Power Plant to the Humboldt Industrial Area.
The resolution, however, is not legally binding and PPL signaled they plan to press on regardless.
The proposed line follows along an older 69kV transmission line that cut through four townships in a rural area of southern Luzerne County — Hazle Twp., Sugarloaf Twp., Black Creek Twp., and Nescopeck Twp., according to a map of the project provided by PPL.
