WILLIMANTIC, Conn. (WFSB) - A man was arrested after being found with dozens of bags of fentanyl during a traffic stop.
Willimantic officers were conducting traffic enforcement today to ensure everyone’s safety on the first day of school.
At around 11:40 a.m. on Bridge Street, near the ACT Magnet School on Main Street, officers pulled over a car for a traffic violation.
Police say that while conducting the traffic stop, officers found the passenger, 49-year-old Jewel Danyel Hurts, had a significant amount of drugs on him.
“Hurt resisted and fought with officers as they attempted to take him into custody. Despite officers’ de-escalation efforts, Hurt consciously resisted, and a physical struggle ensued before Hurt was secured,” police said in a statement.
