SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) - A Jamaican man involved in a shooting in South Burlington now faces federal gun charges.

Police said that Michael Wilson, 24, of North Hartford, Connecticut, shot someone on Dorset Street on June 28 after a bar fight the night before.

Police said Wilson left Vermont for Connecticut, where he was arrested.

He was charged with second-degree attempted murder and reckless endangerment.

Now, the feds say Wilson overstayed his visa and they tacked on new charges of possessing a firearm while being unlawfully present in the United States.

He’s being held while his case
