TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — The Terre Haute Police Department is now taking extra steps in training to ensure your safety in the city.
The department has recently added extra scenario training for officers going into the law enforcement academy, and then an added week of training after they graduate.
Wednesday morning, six recent graduates were put through tests at the Terre Haute training facility.
They were involved in a wide variety of situations, such as attempting to catch a suspect who ran inside a nearby building.
Lt. Justin Sears of the Terre Haute Police Department said each situation they train for is something that a veteran officer has previously dealt with themselves.
