EUGENE, Ore. – A 25-year-old Eugene man was arrested on Tuesday in connection with a River Road area assault that occurred on Sunday afternoon, according to the Eugene Police Department.

EPD officials said police responded at 12:44 p.m. on Aug. 24 to a reported fight on Irvington Road. A suspect, identified as Dunken Deshaun Thornton, had allegedly attacked a 57-year-old man and left the residence with a firearm, police said. Thornton was spotted by a patrol officer who was travelling northbound on Crocker Road but Thornton ran into a ditch and escaped. Multiple officers and resources that included both K9 officers and drones searched the area but police were unable to locate Thornton. On Aug. 25, police arrested Thornton on the corner of West 4th Avenue and Lawrence Street.
