SPENCER, Iowa (KCAU) — A South Dakota man is facing a first-degree murder charge after police encountered a body in an alleyway Tuesday night.

Court documents stated Spencer Police Department officers were called to an alley near the 200 block of Grand Avenue for a report of a bleeding, unconscious man. The man was declared deceased after an ambulance arrived.

Surveillance footage allegedly showed a man fighting with the victim, hitting the victim until he became unconscious. Police identified the attacker as Wade St. John, 44, of South Dakota. They said he also dumped a bottle of clear liquid onto the victim's face before kicking him multiple times.
