RUTHERFORD COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — Rutherford County officials broke ground Wednesday morning on a brand new $15 million forensics center.

“When a Tennessee Health Report commissioned by the governor says that this facility is an 'urgent' need for the entire state and it would be ideally located in Rutherford County and the Town of Smyrna, I'm going to pay attention,” Rutherford County Mayor Joe Carr said.

Denise L. Martin with the Rutherford County Medical Examiner's Office told News 2 the new facility should reduce autopsy turnaround times in the county by at least four weeks.
