MCCOOK, Neb. —
Nebraska State Sen. Megan Hunt is leading a coalition of Congress members to request a hearing over the ICE detention facility in McCook.
Thirteen state senators are questioning the "legality, authority, and consequences" of Gov. Jim Pillen's decision.
Last week, Pillen announced an agreement to run an Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility in McCook.
'A central Midwest hub for ICE':
The state senators who signed the letter include John Cavanaugh, Machaela Cavanaugh, Danielle Conrad, George Dungan, John Fredrickson, Dunixi Guereca, Megan Hunt, Margo Juarez, Terrell McKinney, Dan Quick, Jane Raybould, Victor Rountree, and Ashlei Spivey.
They are asking for transparency in regard to the legal authority, the impact on Nebraska, and public safety.
