WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) - The push for a new dog pound in Trumbull County appears to be gaining traction, with commissioners working to form a task force to help in the effort.

Healthy Hearts and Paws Project Founder Jason Cooke is optimistic after commissioners decided to form the task force.

"I think it's a good step in the right direction," Cooke said.

Trumbull County Commissioners Denny Malloy said the Board of Commissioners has heard from the community that this is something they want.

"They want this done now, and it's our time to act. It's our turn as public servants to get this dog pound built," Malloy said.

"It's needed. There's so many dogs in this county that need help that we're not able to help, and you are just seeing the tip of the iceberg," Cooke said.
