DENVER (KKTV) - The U.S. Attorney’s Office (USAO) said a Denver man was sentenced to seven years in federal prison, followed by eight years of supervised release for two counts of interstate transportation of an individual for prostitution.

According to officials, the plea agreement said that the suspect 41-year-old Walter Conwell recruited two victims to work for him as prostitutes. It said that Conwell transported the victims between states and advertised the victims on numerous websites.

USAO said Conwell made several promises to the victims, such as providing housing, cars, health insurance and clothing, but he did not uphold those promises. Officials said Conwell had coerced and harassed one of the victims and withheld her money and property.
