WAUPACA, Wis. (WKOW) -- Prosecutors in Waupaca County filed three felony charges against a Madison priest on Wednesday after they say an investigation revealed concerning behavior online.

Fr. Andrew Showers is charged with the following crimes:

Attempted use of a computer to facilitate a child sex crime

Attempted child enticement-exposing intimate parts

Attempted second-degree sexual assault of a child

According to a criminal complaint, Showers, 37, of Madison, privately messaged an undercover Clintonville police officer on Reddit who had posted in a Fox Valley area group that he was a female looking for a male.

In the message, Showers said he was a 36-year-old man vacationing in Bailey's Harbor for the week. The officer responded, identifying himself as Abby, a 14-year-old girl.
