CHESHIRE, Conn. (WFSB) - Three correctional officers were hurt following an attack at the Cheshire Correctional Institution.

The incident occurred on August 25th at around 11:18 a.m.

Officials say an inmate threw searing hot coffee in an officer’s face and then tried to slash, stab, and cut the officer with a shank.

Three correctional officers suffered various injuries to the neck, back, and knees while restraining the inmate. They were transported to the hospital for treatment.
