SAN DIEGO (Border Report) -- Two weeks ago, the state of California opened the main roadway that takes visitors to Border Field State Park, which sits on a bluff above the Pacific Ocean, an area famous for its views -- where the border barrier runs into the water.

For years, and for various reasons, this roadway has been inaccessible by car.

The only way to get in and out has been on foot, bike or horse.

"It is a beautiful the area, you can see the whole view of the ocean, I love to come here and enjoy nature," said Maria Fernandez two weeks ago when the roadway was about to open.

Fernandez, who says she's a frequent visitor to the area, said the state opening the road was long overdue.
