NORRIS, Tenn. — At least 31 people have died in Norris Lake after boating-related incidents since 2005, according to data 10News requested from the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency.

Of those people who died at Norris Lake in the last 20 years, 16 were Tennesseans. Fifteen lived out of state, including seven from Ohio, three from Kentucky, and one each from Michigan, Florida, Illinois, and Virginia.

"We're not really surprised to see that half of those fatalities would be from out-of-state boaters," Matt Cameron, public information fficer for TWRA said. "It's located right off Interstate 75, it's mountainous, it's deep, it's clear, it's beautiful and it just draws a lot of participation."

Three deaths came from tubing accidents, and six came from boats hitting another boat or object.
