SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — A member of Sioux City's council has decided not to run for re-election.

Alex Watters, who has served for eight years, told KCAU 9 that he'll be moving on from the council.

Watters was first appointed in 2017 to fill Keith Radig's remaining 10-month term. Watters won the election for the seat that November. Watters told KCAU 9 he's proud of the growth in business and community he's seen over the years.

He said he still wants to serve Sioux City, but it's time for some fresh perspective.

"Elected officials or people in different positions can get used to the way things have been done, and not have the perspective to push themselves and try different things. And so, I want to take a step back and pursue some personal and professional goals," Alex Watters said.
