SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - Candidates running for three seats on the Sioux City city council have until Thursday, Aug. 28, to turn in petitions to get on the ballot.

We know that we will see at least two new faces on the city council in January. Two incumbent council members say they won’t run for reelection.

Thursday, city council members Dan Moore and Alex Watters announced they won’t seek reelection.

Moore has served three terms on the city council, and he’s also served as mayor pro tem since 2016. Thursday, Moore said a number of factors contributed to his decision not to run for reelection.

But Moore says he plans to continue serving in the community throughout the remainder of his term and after his time on the council is over.
