WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - The City of Wichita is making a significant investment in a decades-old building that has been vacant since before the pandemic.
A budget of $2 million has been allocated to renovate the old central library located downtown by Century II.
Mayor Lily Wu stressed the importance of maintaining the city’s existing structures and suggested that reactivating vacant buildings is essential.
“I’ve always been very thoughtful about buildings that we currently have in the city of Wichita; that we need to maintain them,“ said Wu.
Community activist Celeste Racette has been a longtime advocate for beautifying the area around Century II. She also shared her excitement about the upcoming changes, emphasizing the building’s worthiness for preservation.
“It’s an amazing building
