KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- A Kansas City, Kansas Catholic school is closing for the rest of the week after an outbreak of COVID-19 illnesses.

According to Holy Name Catholic School, located on Southwest Boulevard, across the street from Strasser Hardware, it's shutting the doors and cleaning in response to illnesses. Initially, the school said it would only be closed on Tuesday and Wednesday.

However, on Wednesday afternoon, the school said it plans to resume classes on Tuesday, Sept. 2.

"Holy name community, the school will remain CLOSED this week (Thurs and Fri) due to COVID illnesses," the school wrote on Facebook.

"We hope to allow enough time for sanitation and for staff and students to get healthy again. We will return healthy and fully staffed Tuesday September 2.
