West End newcomer DeMarco’s Italian filled us in on a new term: zebra striping.
Zebra striping refers to the act of switching between alcoholic and nonalcoholic drinks throughout the night. In addition to providing a nifty new buzzword, they also shared some of their plant-based mocktails. What piqued the interest is that the drinks are nonalcoholic but botanically infused.
One of the options, the Lion’s Mane 75, is a play on the French 75 and uses hibiscus syrup and lemon with Little Saints St. Ember. The name makes reference to its core ingredient’s makeup of lion’s mane mushrooms and palo santo. According to the Cleveland Clinic, lion’s mane mushrooms contain probiotics and may even support brain and gut health.
Who knows? Maybe zebra striping between the French 75 and Lion’s Mane 75
