NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) - We took one week off, but we are back in action for this week's "Weather Wednesday" and it's inspired by both our Cody Mitchell and Richie Cruz who recently asked about clouds so let's get to it...

First, let's learn about the different cloud classification:

(a) Altitude: How high are the clouds in the sky? High, middle or low levelled? Because they have special names:

-HIGH-LEVEL CLOUDS: Cirrus, Cirrostatus, Cirrocumulus

-MID-LEVEL CLOUDS: Altostratus, Altocumulus

-LOW-LEVEL CLOUDS: Stratus, Cumulus

(b) Form: Are they Cumulus, Stratus or Cirrus? These terms help better describe the cloud form:

-CUMULUS clouds are puffy and big.

-STRATUS clouds tend to look layered.

-CIRRUS clouds look wispy.
