BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — A shipping company pleaded guilty to knowingly dumping oily waste into the Gulf and excluded the waste from oil records.
According to the United States Department of Justice, V. Ships Norway admitted to violating the Act to Prevent Pollution from Ships and was ordered to pay a $2 million fine.
The company stated that the oily waste and oily bilge water were discharged from the Motor Tanker Swift Winchester (M/T Swift Winchester).
